The iPad 2 is now official and it was unveiled by the iconic Steve Jobs himself. Here are the iPad 2 specs and features in full glory Steve Jobs unveiled. First of all, the Apple iPad 2 features a slimmer and a lighter body. The build design complements its features, no doubt, but also adds to the beauty and elegance of the iPad 2. The iPad 2 encompasses a 9.7” capacitive touch display with support for multi-touch and gesture-based input. Just like it has been speculated, Apple has also twined dual cameras into the iPad 2 in an attempt to bring it on par with the competing tablet PCs, at least in terms of hardware – to a considerable extent. The primary/rear-facing camera enables 720p video recording while the front-facing VGA camera entertains video calling. Under the hood, the awesome mightiness of the user interface driven by Apple iOS 4.3 is powered by a dual-core A5 CPU based on ARM's Cortex A9 unit. The CPU is flanked by a dedicated GPU which is claimed to be nine times better than the original iPad's GPU. Complementing the GPU's mightiness is a gyroscope sensor among other features. Apple hasn't officially disclosed the RAM capacity, but is believed that the CPU has at least 512MB RAM in its neighborhood. Connectivity options include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, HDMI-out port that enables you to mirror iPad's display to a connected HDMI TV and a 3.5mm audio jack among other things. Interestingly, the iPad 2 is 33% thinner and 15% lighter than the original iPad, and it's now just 8.8mm thin. It will be available in three storage variants : 16GB/32GB/64GB in both Wi-Fi only and 3G+Wi-Fi versions with support for both GSM and CDMA networks when it hits the stores on March 11. In a gist, the Apple iPad is here, in its official entirety, to throw a challenge to the leading tablet makers and even with its vast agglomeration of amazing and unmatchable features it starts at just $499 and comes in a choice of two colors : black and white.
